In-line Hockey League
What: In-line hockey
league with divisions for co-ed youths 6 – 18 and recreational adult players
participating at their ability level. Divisions
will be determined after registration, but we expect to have Atom, Peewee, and
Bronze. Whole teams interested in
playing in Gold should phone Dan directly.
When: The season will run from Oct. 1, 2006 until end of
March with 2 weeks off at Christmas and 1 week off at Spring Break. Game nights for all divisions will be Wednesdays. Game time will be 5:15 for Atom and Peewee
divisions. Bronze games will follow and
will finish no later than 9:45 p.m.
Where: All divisions play at Landing Sports Centre on Spadina.
Who: Male and female players of all
ages & abilities. Ultimately, the placement of players is determined
by ability. Players with ice hockey
experience are often 1 - 2 years ahead of other players. Generally, Atom division is 6 - 10 year
olds, Peewee division is 9 - 12 year olds, and Bronze is 13 - 18 year olds
plus recreational ‘B’ & ‘C’ level adults.
Why: Fun, fitness, fellowship, fair play, finesse &
development of individual and team skills.
Players learn to win and lose gracefully, and develop their character
for a lifetime of enjoyment in sports.

NOTES:
Registration is based on playing Wednesdays only. If I get floor time on Mondays, I will be
informing players and their parents and offering something that works for
everyone. Length of and number of
games will depend on registration numbers. We’ll start out with exhibition
games to orient players and balance teams.
Players may register as individuals, partial teams or complete teams;
however, GLA reserves the right to move a player or team up or down a divisions in the interest of safety and team
balance. Bronze teams must have a
balance of young and experienced players. All players are required to sign
waiver form. First time female players
are half price. Parents are encouraged
to play on a team with one of their children. Goalies are required to wear
in-line skates, and are encouraged to register early to insure a spot. Our goal this season will be to have enough
Atom and Peewee players so that the top 2/3rds of players will play in a
competitive 4 team peewee division.
Focus in peewee will be on player positioning and team play. Atom will focus on individual in-line
hockey skills. Players will have opportunities to move up to peewee as they
become ready. Goal for Bronze is to
have a 5 team competitive division.
Cooperative Soccer,
being relative new, will evolve over time to meet the needs of those
registered. Participants will learn
cooperative play as well as soccer skills. GLA’s 5
F’s: fun, fitness, fellowship, fair play and finesse will be emphasized. This activity will be especially great for
families (6th F) to do together.
Each session will start with warm up, followed by stretch and strengthen, drills, scrimmage and cool down.
Your comments and
suggestions are always welcome. Registrants and their tentative teams will be
